Just a small problem here in short words..
I have a folder with a subfolder of vob videos.
They all played fine with the last ver.of VDJ

Since I updated to 6 the first folder of vob's played fine..but the subfolder of vids give me an error.

They all play in PowerDVD on my gig machine ok...I even tried converting 1 video to mpeg2 and it still wont play in VDJ 6

Any ideas?

I've never seen this type of issue with standard (non-Drm protected) files and I read this forum everyday.

90% of my videos are Vob and I've never had an issue like you describe. Since none of the "super-talents" have answered you so far if it were me I would first be sure you have done a Check/Clean/Fix in the config section and if that doesn't help I would re-install VDJ.

It would also be helpful to know what you are running, a Laptop with a external drive would be my guess? These configurations seem to have the most issues by far)

Normally after a post sits all day and night and someone finally answers there will likely be a waiting line of peeps who will flood in to try and give a better answer than the first one given. I don't mind being the first one to provide a possible solution and if 25 "super-talents" all jump in with a better answer you win regardless.

Good luck, hope this helps one way or another.

This is not a format problem.

If the sub folders have videos reporting with a yellow icon right click and select "info" to see what the status is.
If it reports "file does not exist" the database location is wrong.

If you clean and fix, they should be cleaned up.
All I use is vob and mp4 files and do not have this problem.

Rick,

"Real men" don't use Mp4's. In this case size DOES matter and the bigger the BETTER :^) (It's a joke people, please don't send me cards and letters)

Give that a try LINEMAN it should fix your problem, and you will notice I was able to draw out one of the Super-talents to help, normally Rick sleeps till Noon. zzzzzzzzzzzz.

Renne

Ive heard that the ones that start realy small end up the biggest. But perhaps thats just my old wives tale.

Rick

Don't worry itle grow back.....................probably. Lots of repetitive de-compression helps.

Daz

Ps I know its nothing to do with the post but I couldn't jump in with a better answer.

djbrian had a similar problem and he cured it by changing .vob to .mpg try it with a known file that doesn't work and see if it helps you.

If right click on it in VDJ and choose file info it says:
using video decoder
"Impossible to open the file!"

???

Hey Tayla

Do you mean the file extension from vob. To mpg?

Does this effect the file in any way?

I'm having a different problem with tags on these files.

I was able to tag all my recently ripped vob video files with Tag&Rename with all information and covers.

When I opened the folder in VDJ and the only thing it imported was the covers, no genre, title, artist ect.

Also I been having this type of issue with wma, wav audio files and I’m still using 5.2.1 because of all the problems I’ve been reading.

Putting in all this information through VDJ One at a time X Six fields is to mush work, I can deal with title info but not all the common fields.

Example:

30 videos = 30 Titles, plus (5) common fields album, artist, year, genre and comment.

That’s a total of 180 entries just to process 30 Videos in VDJ.

If the ability of highlighting those tracks and globally add the (5) common fields then this process would only take (35) entries instead of 180.

I have 500 to do and counting.

Not very user friendly.

iTunes is a good working example of how their import of new media is much easier and user friendly in meeting this task.

I have a Karaoke program that I use for 5 years now and it has this feature.

Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not criticizing, just pointing out the very much needed inprovements in this area of VDJ.

Is this import tag problem going to be fixed?

Thank You

Joey.....

It doesnt affect the file to change it to mpg, but some media players wont play vob so changing it to mpg will allow those players to play them.

Hi acw dj

In my case all vob play great, my issue is with tags only, can you give me some advise here.

Thanks

I see, Well I'm sure it is going to be in VirtualDJ, but can't tell when. It is already know by Dev Team, we have to wait. I wish I can tell you next week is going to be added in VirtualDJ, but I can't, we have to wait until Dev Team could fix what is in their urgent list before taking care of other new features for VirtualDJ Pro.

Do not convert your vobs to anything, there is nothing wrong with them. If vobs work for us, why not you? There is something wrong with the drive, or VDJ can't find the files. If your files play elsewhere, then VDJ has just loss touch with them.

Well I have discovered a whole crap load of my vob's not playing...but did prior to the update! I retried fix, cleaning and all that and renaming
even to divx because those seem to work fine. This sucks..I really like the new version but man...the thought of whats ahead of me trying to get them all working really burns my a@@.

Nothing has changed on my end..no one else has this issue???I really find this strange...
