Post here questions about things you see in VirtualDJ

1- Under the reported BPM of a track when it's loaded in a deck there is a 2nd number in brackets. What is this number? [Rick]

The first bpm is the average bpm of the song computed with the new algo.
The second number is the instant bpm, computed with the old algo.

Hip hop still has troubles, and with the scratch features we are targetting that community so can we do anyhting about this ?

What about the v-scratch and v-control. When its set up how does it decide which player it will effect ? Also Stef what is your best advice on setting that up ?

Whats the phase marker for on the beat tap ? I noticed it moves the bars for beatlock. Is it to manually sink the squares with the rythm zone ?

I'm still trying to find the best settings for automatically blending some easy listening songs for times when I have to step away for a few moments. Cocktail hour, dinner music, closing songs.
So far each setting either cuts off the beginning, or mixes too early, cutting off the end, sometimes by a full minute or more.
I'm think that Virtual DJ is smarter than Atomixmp3. Perhaps it should be aware enough to know that if I have shut off all the auto beat match features, I intend it to play to the end of a track, and start the next track at the beginning. Walking away from the booth area doesn't happen often, but when it does, this feature is very very helpful (and I think quite necessary). VDJ is very advanced in every way, but this one missing feature is the only step backwards.
I hate to keep harping on this... but as more people begin to use VDJ this is a feature that many will SCREAM for. (I think)

I have to agree with Rick on this Stef. I loved the feature that allowed Atomix to start at begining and end at the end. I know Atomix Productions is releasing other products with this ability but I think it would be a great feature to implement into Vdj. If it is way to much coding I understand but if it is simple I urge you to consider. Thanks

What does the phase slider indicate during a manual beat tap.

Posté Fri 16 May 03 @ 5:55 pm
It's the begining of a 4/4 pattern

when you want to add or modify a shortcut there is a range number to complete.
What that it does ?
And how can we know which number is the best ?

The "Value=" field is only meaningful for sliders action (like crossfader, bass, etc...).
Either you can give a relative value (+5, -3, ...), or you can give an absolute value between 0 and 4096.

Hey Stef, when you load a new "already played song" on a deck, vdj reminds its bpm and level, but analizes it again (the song position, i mean).
The song pos shows, for ie, different colours if the song has a break, etc..
Is there any way that vdj can remember all the info when you load a song?

Posté Fri 23 May 03 @ 6:42 pm
No it can't (or else the internal database would take hundreds of Mo).
Plus, the songpos actually shows the "loading" of the song.
It can be usefull for example if you load a song from a CD (either a MP3 on a data CD or a track from an audio CD). Because when you see that the song is loaded, you can change the CD.
That's way you can mix two different tracks on two different audio CD with only one CD drive ;)

Why are so different ?
For ie, when the first shows 126.3, the second shows 70.2...
In atomix we have the local bpm which is not the average but the instant bpms and it´s great to know if the song has changes in the middle of it...

OK it's a bug, it has been corrected in b20.
In fact there is no "local bpm" in virtualdj.
