Brand New hp pavillion laptop. Win 10, I7, 12 gb ram 4 gb nvidia GeForce 940mx card and Intel 520 hd. All drivers up to date. Vdj b3398

The external hard drives need a powered usb hub perhaps, since your laptop can not deliver enough power?

Using a powered USB 3 hub. Does it with several brands of external drives. And it ejects the pioneer sx2 as well. When I switched back to the Intel car all the problems go away

Did you change the selective USB supending setting?
DON'T set it to enabled as in the following picture. Change it to disabled!

it was set to enabled, changed that. for now i'm just gonna run it on the intel chip. plays HD videos perfectly
