Sujet Just a general question: Is the system burdened more by complex audio configurations?

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Hi!
I have a general question that has been on my mind for quite some time:

Does it burden the system more if I have more complex audio configurations?

For example:
I typically have saved two (or more) different audio configurations for the same device...
One without timecode inputs and one with timecode.
Just because somehow I think that it burdens the system more if there are timecode inputs which I would not use at this particular session (because I could play with the internal soundcard of the mixer, but don't use timecode-vinyls because I have CDJ via USB as controllers).
I do the same proceedure with 2 & 4 deck configurations to "save" resources by avoiding unneeded channels in the routing.

Is that somehow necessary / useful or is it just nonsense?

as far as i experimented there is no real impact with VDJ 32bits

the issues with multiple configs are more with VDJ x64:
does not like not connected devices in alternative configs
does not like broken 64bits drivers in alternative configs

I always use different configs for different situations: booth or preview or extra main outputs even sometimes they are not in use with no visible/measurable cpu impact

by the way adding some extra videos does not increase the cpu and gpu load so much
VDJ is very light with CPU compare to many other

no timecode used with timecode config may have a little issue depending on kind of record it sometimes enable by itself making VDJ waiting for the signal
simply switch timecode manualy for each deck

Not really related to 64 bit or even vdj directly.
No software will work correctly with broken drivers, no matter if they are 32 or 64 bit.

Having timecode inputs in your audio config will add a little bit of cpu usage, but probably not that much.
