Are you perhaps running 32 bit VDJ on a 64 bit OS?

Are you sure it's exe and not dll?

The download should automatically be 64 bit, detected by the site/browser - but that's possibly not working as you're running an outdated operating system. Support for Windows 7 ended two years ago.

That shader downloads, compiles and runs here on 64 bit VDJ (Windows 11) but on 32 bit VDJ I get a message that it's not compatible with VDJ.

The 64-bit version only works on windows 10 and later, so 32-bit on windows 7 is correct.
(Although it is indeed highly recommended to upgrade to windows 10 or 11)
