SETUP


Drivers


No driver is required to be installed. The device is a USB Class Compliant device and your Operating System (Windows/Mac OS) will install and use the standard audio driver when the device is connected to your Mac/PC with a USB cable


VirtualDJ Setup


Download and install VirtualDJ from https://www.virtualdj.com/download/index.html (in case you have not done already)

Once VirtualDJ is launched, a Connect Window will appear to choose one of the available ways to login.

A Pro Infinity, a Pro Subscription, a Home Plus License or a Limited Edition keycode is required to use the Next Beat SX1.
Without any of the above the controller will operate for 10 minutes each time you restart VirtualDJ. https://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html


A detection window will appear next verifying the proper connection.
Click on the The Next Beat SX1 button to allow VirtualDJ to auto-create the pre-defined audio configuration. Speakers need to be connected to the rear panel of the device.

Click on "Computer" button if you don't have speakers to connect and need to output sound from your computer's built on sound card.

If your device came with a VirtualDJ LE keycode, click on the Enter Code button to enter your keycode.

Click on the Learn More button to watch Tutorials and see useful information from the manufacture website.

Click to OK



The device is now ready to operate.


MIDI Operation.


The device should be visible in the CONTROLLERS tab of VirtualDJ Settings and the “factory default” available/selected from the Mappings drop-down list. The factory default Mapping offers the functions described in this Manual, however those can be adjusted to your needs via VDJ Script actions.

AUDIO Setup


The device has a pre-defined Audio configuration and a special button in the AUDIO tab of Config to provide that. The default audio configuration requires speakers to be connected at the rear panel Master RCA sockets and headphones at the front panel 1/4" or 1/8" socket.

FRONT-REAR PANEL CONNECTIONS


U USB
Connect the USB-C port to a USB port of your computer using the provided USB-C cable
M MASTER OUTPUT
Connect your amplified speakers using RCA cables
H PHONES OUTPUT
Connect your Headphones using a 1/4" or 3/4" adaptor.
V PHONES VOL
Adjust the output of the Headphones output (Hardware Operation)

Play-pause loaded track
Play-stutter loaded track
2 CUE
Set a temporary Cue point at current position when track is paused or preview while pressed if Cue point is assigned. Return to this Cue point when track is playing
Jump to the beginning of the track
3 JOG
Touch-sensitive jogwheel for scratching (when Vinyl mode is enabled) or pitch-bending (when Vinyl mode is disabled).
Vinyl mode can be enabled/disabled from VirtualDJ GUI
Fast-searching through loaded track
4 LOOP-
Half the size of the Loop in beats
SHIFT1 : Trigger Hotcue 3
SHIFT2 : Delete Hotcue 3
5 LOOP
Enable/disable a seamless Loop of the selected size in beats
SHIFT1 : Trigger Hotcue 2
SHIFT2 : Delete Hotcue 2
6 LOOP+
Double the size of the Loop in beats
SHIFT1 : Trigger Hotcue 1
SHIFT2 : Delete Hotcue 1
7 TEMPO-
Decrease Deck's Tempo by -0.1 BPM
SHIFT1 : Enable/Disable Master Tempo
SHIFT2 : Decrease Deck's Tempo by -0.5 BPM
8 TEMPO+
Increase Deck's Tempo by +0.1 BPM
SHIFT1 : nothing
SHIFT2 : Increase Deck's Tempo by +0.5 BPM
9 SYNC
Match the BPM of the other Deck and smoothly catch up the phase of the opposite Deck to synchronize this Deck to the opposite one.
SHIFT1 : Smoothly reset Pitch and reset Deck's BPM to the original value
10 FILTER
Adjust the selected Color FX (Filter by default). When at the middle position, no Color FX is applied.
SHIFT1 : Adjust the 1st Parameter of the selected Effect
11 FX ON
Enable/disable the selected Effect
SHIFT1 : Select the previous available Effect
SHIFT2 : Select the next available Effect
12 EQUALIZER
Adjust the Low and High frequencies (or Stems) of the Left/Right deck
13 VOLUME
Adjust the Output volume of the Left/Right Deck.
14 BROWSE
Scroll through the Folders/Tracks
Push to toggle focus between Folders and Files Browser lists
SHIFT2 : Toggle focus between Files and Sideview Browser lists
15 MASTER PFL
When enabled, the signal of the Master Output will be sent to the Headphones channel
SHIFT1 : Sets focus to the Folders list of Browser. If focus is on Folders, expand/collapse sub-folders.
SHIFT2 : Cycles through the available views of Sideview (Automix, Sidelist, Sampler etc)
16 LOAD
Loads the selected Track to the Left/Right Deck.
Fast-double-press to clone the Track of the opposite Deck.
SHIFT1 : Unloads the Track from the Left/Right Deck
17 MASTER GAIN
Adjust the Master Output volume
18 VINYL
Enable/disable Vinyl mode for the Jogwheel
SHIFT1 : Trigger Sample 1 (Left side) and Sample 2 (Right side) of the loaded Sampler Bank
SHIFT2 : Trigger Sample 3 (Left side) and Sample 4 (Right side) of the loaded Sampler Bank
19 PFL
Send audio signal of Left/Right Deck to the headphones channel
SHIFT1 : Trigger Sample 5 (Left side) and Sample 6 (Right side) of the loaded Sampler Bank
SHIFT2 : Trigger Sample 7 (Left side) and Sample 8 (Right side) of the loaded Sampler Bank
20 CROSSFADER
Blends audio between the Left and Right decks
