Sujet: Pad Script & Sampler Issues on Build 9246
Hello VDJ Community,

Since upgrading to Build 9246, I’ve encountered a recurring issue during live sets. While everything works perfectly at home on my DDJ-1000, I’m experiencing "dead" pads or incorrect script behavior when connecting to venue hardware.

My Setup: * Laptop: Windows 11 latest build.

Secondary Controller: DDJ-XP2

Primary Hardware: Varies by venue (XDJ-RX/RX2)

Scenario 1: XDJ-RX2 (Missing Samples)
Upon connecting, my DDJ-XP2 failed to trigger any samples. Even though the Pad Scripts appeared correct, the pads were unresponsive. I eventually had to manually reconfigure the entire Sample page the following day to get it working again.

Scenario 2: XDJ-RX (Broken Stems Scripts)
Last night, my custom Stems FX page on the DDJ-XP2 malfunctioned. The pad scripts remained intact, but the actual output did not match the commands.

My Questions:

Selective Restore: Is it possible to restore only the Pad configurations from a daily backup without rolling back the entire database? If so, which specific files should I target?

Known Bug? Has anyone else noticed mapping or script instability in Build 9246 when swapping between primary controllers?

Any insights or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hey guys,
I updated to BUILD 9295, but with the XDJ-RR (not RX) I experienced the exact same issue again last Friday when I went back to DJ at the same venue.
The last time this happened, I noticed the console firmware had not been updated to the latest version, so I updated it, but unfortunately the issue still remained.

For reference, these are the malfunctioning scripts, and they are on PAGE 2 of DDJ-XP2:

PAD1
padfx 'vinylbrake' 1bt 50% 'stemfx:Vocal'

PAD2
stem_pad 'Instru'

PAD3
stem_pad 'bass'

PAD4
padfx 'vinylbrake' 1bt 50% 'stemfx:Rhythm'

PAD5
stem_pad 'kick'

PAD6
stem_pad 'hihat'

PAD7
padfx "reverb" 70% 1bt "stemfx:vocal" & (repeat_start 'vocalFadeOut' ? blink 0.5bt : stem vocal 0% ? on) & (repeat_start 'vocalFadeOut' ? on : stem vocal 0% ? on) ? repeat_stop 'vocalFadeOut' & stem vocal 50% : repeat_start_instant 'vocalFadeOut' 10ms 51 & stem vocal -1%

PAD8
padfx 'vinylbrake' 1bt 50% 'stemfx:MeloRhythm'

In many cases, I had to reload the track to get the pads working properly again, because most of the time pressing either Pad 1 or Pad 2 would mute the entire track.
What’s even stranger is that sometimes Pad 1 and Pad 2 worked correctly at the beginning of the song, but later, during the mix-out, Pad 4 or Pad 8 would suddenly stop working (muting all the track not only the stems involved) , completely ruining the transition.

Has anyone experienced something similar or found a solution?
I also tried opening a support ticket but had no luck so far.
Could this possibly be related to MIDI 2.0? Would it make sense to disable MIDI 2.0 and test again?

At this point I’m pretty puzzled, so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

PLEASE NOTE that with my DDJ-1000 and XDJ-RX3 I had no issues at all with the same HW configuration and PAD configuration.

Just in case there's some hard-coded firmware difference for some of the pad pages, could you try to assign the same pad page to a different pad page button?

Thank you very much for your support.

Just so I understand correctly, are you asking me to assign all 8 pad scripts to a different pad page on my DDJ-XP2?

Are there any other tests I can perform or additional logs I can enable? I’ll ask the venue, since I do not own the console, to test their unit as well so I can collect more data for troubleshooting and problem determination.

Also, I already used the XDJ-RR last year in another venue with the same hardware configuration, the same VDJ setup, the same pad button assignments, and the same DDJ-XP2, without experiencing any issues. At that time, however, I was not yet using VDJ 2026.

Thanks again!

Ok I will try and let you know.
If there are other things to test or logs to enable please let me know!

One thing notable (different than the other Pioneer controllers) is that XDJ-RR has only 4 physical pads x decks...but again this worked last year no problem...
