is there anyway to see the history file from within VJ like you used to in Atomix or even save it as a playlist rather that a text file?

Not sure to understand your question cause my first language is french.
The played tracks are written in "history.txt" in the VirtualDJ directory.
The playlist ".m3u" is saved in the VirtualDJ\Playlists directory.
Be sure to active the "statistics" option.
