Sujet: CHOOSING THE PERFECT CONTROLLER??

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

First let me say.. there will never be the perfect controller
however... what is the best controller out there for you??

This is dependent on who you are as a dj.. and your mixing style
do you mix only or are you a scratch specialist?
Do you mix audio video or both?

What are the choice out there....so many?
Timecode with CD players, Turntables - (midi mixer needed here for video) - timecode tweaking for most
CDJ-400 and Denon midi controllers (able to play from CDs as well hard drives - great backup)
RMX, Vestax, total control, Torque, Hercules (sound card included) -

Other controllers midi controllers - Dac3, DMC2 - no sound cards included

but here are a few things to consider
Size of the controller.. does it fit what you do? (mobile enough)
Is it sturdy enough (will it break under constant use)
Replaceability - are parts available readily
Is there any feedback on it.. is it available so you can test it
does it fit your image - very important to some even to patrons too - otherwise we would just tack on the keyboard and use it as the controller

Price of the controller will affect to a large extent the one you choose? is it affordabe/worth the sacrifice?

In my humble opinion there are two controllers in the midi section that are worth looking at
the NS7 - what looks like a great and promising controller that will be worthy of the mixer and the scratch specialist
and the vestax vci-300 (once it becomes native to vdj)

for now many have acquired the RMX - but sadly enough is not the solution for the scratch specialist

Share your thoughts.... on what you think is the best.. if not the perfect controller out there for VDJ

X PONENT RULES its made out of stabiland hard materialas metal and gar plastick the btons are in ther place and its very fearm the jogs are a size of a regular CD and its good for scrathing depends on ow you map it al in all it 8/10 the glitch is that the pitch is too losy and the cross fade is too loosy and the SOME butons are to close one anothe..

The Denon DN-HC4500 is an excellent rackmount controller - Very good, solid build quality as you would expect from Denon.

It has its own built-in ASIO sound card, touch sensitive jogwheels, good quality buttons, very easy to read alphanumeric displays (Shows song info, etc.) and it can be linked to a denon X500 or X900 mixer for video crossfading using the mixer's real crossfader.

The pitch sliders are 14-bit and send 1024 unique values allowing accurate pitch adjustment for manual beat matching. Some MIDI controllers only have 7-bit pitch sliders, with only 128 unique values, which is too course. Other controllers with similar fine pitch sliders include the Numark DMC-2 (1024) and Reloop Digital Jockey (1024)

Also, the DN-HC4500 can be linked to a compatible Denon CD drawer unit to allow it to be used to control ordinary CD's too (Great for a backup.)

Just my 2 cents : When I try Hercules MKII first, I said to myself "Why I've buy this thing ??" But start praticing, doing a lot of gig with and really like it. Few month later, change MKII to Total Control. Hummm, miss something ... even if I own Total Control, I do gig with MKII ...Then, praticing with Total Control ... Now I don't want anything but my Total Control !! But know what ? I've buy RMX !!! Try one time, but put it back on the box !! Doing all my Christmas party's with TotalControl and a RMX at home !!

Conclusion, more you know about your stuff, more you will like it !!!

Having been a club DJ long before the release of varispeed CD players (DN-2000F), I can say that the VDJ + DN-HC4500 is the best overall solution for DJ's mixing in a club environment.

I started DJ'ing from a laptop in 1999 with PCDJ, then in 2001 moved to the Alcatech BPM Studio RCP controller, but it's nowhere near as accurate as the 4500. The JPB mapper adds so many config options to the 4500 that it's mind boggling.

Build quality is excellent, and after some advice from JPB I've got the ASIO working at 1ms perfectly.

Superb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

screw the DMC2....
shoulda got the denon...

kradcliffe, Your stats re software, dates, and equipment are the same as mine I'm guesing your about 30 years old?

Naaa, I wish I was ....... I'm 42 actually, started DJ'ing in 1985 and still going strong (so far)!
