Sujet Question about mixing breakbeat/beat - Help needed

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

I have been mixing mainly progressive house/house and some electro stuff for a while now.

I normally just listen out for the strongest bass, match/cue it up and get them matched up well amnd work from there

However I realy love big beat and break beat stuff such as:

Junkie XL
Fatboy SLim
The Prodigy

As you know, the bass drum and snares are a lot more varied and this makes it very difficult to mix.

Can anyone reccommend any tips or reading material I can research to learn how to mix/build a decent set in this type of music?

Ultimately I would love to be able to combine a little bit of everything when I have house parties etc.

Your input is greatly appreciated!

:)

Sometimes with difficult beat structures I will look for a steady portion and do an 8 or 16 beat loop. Preferably immediately proceeding a dramatic portion of the tune or the vocals. Mix in the loop and release once you move the crossfader over.
