Sujet: DIY Screen under $30

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

I made this off of some other designs i found online and just basic understanding of screens. its made of 1\\\" pvc, piece or 90/10 spandex/lycra material, and vellcro. its roughly 70\\\"diagonal and can be viewed from both sides as you can see in the pictures. the projector is i believe 1900 lumens and mounted to the lcd tv stand. i had to set this one up temp. to show a club owner the reaction a bigger screen is gonna get. up to that point i was just using a 40\\\" lcd at the far end of the room.

forgot to mention the text is fuzzy cause its moving and the bouncer moved a bit as well as the camera having an open shutter longer but you get the idea.

Very nice. I've been considering a similar design, I was afraid I wouldn't get a very big frame due to the PVC bowing near the center of each length. You've proven that wrong.
I was looking at different aluminum extrusions for the frame, but that stuff gets up in price. Great to see that PVC will get the job done.

Thanks for sharing.

also if you notice the bottom in the center there's the end of a T this is how i mount it to the PVC base or i attach an extension piece of pvc and it fits perfectly into a light stand for higher applications. it all comes apart and fits into a bag i made thats the size of a single light stand bag.

T's at each corner on the bottom would work for me so I could use two stands. I do a few outdoor events so the stability of two stands would be beneficial. Great idea

oh def i use my other screens for outdoor. this like i said is for smaller applications.

The frame is OK, but you really need to use fireproof material for the screen. It is required by fire code.

It doesn't cost that much more and will give you piece of mind.

its a portable screen. im not really concerned with fireproofing it. if a fire breaks out in a venue the screen flaming up is the least of my worries. plus i don't think they sell fireproof spandex?

you can use a spray on substance available in the uk called scotchguard, it's a flame retardent spray suitable for most materials, just put a google on it and see if it is available near you, it's as cheap as chips but for peace of mind it's worth a fortune....

yeah but honestly if theres a fire at an event i'm sooooo not concerned about a $30 screen. plus wouldnt the scothguard effect the screen material?

That design looks familiar....:)

could be partly your design. i def found a few dif ones on youtube/google and made it to fit my needs.

it could be the screen that is at fault for a fire or contribute to it for whatever reason, thats why we are saying you need the protection for your screen... and for the sake of a few dollars if any fire cheif asks you can say you acted sensibly and took all precautions.
