Sujet: Pro-video camera and video overlay plug-in

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Hi guys. I currently use VDJ to VJ with along with mixing in a live simulcast feed from my Sony VCR-DX2100 video camera. It is pro-sumer quality and I bought it because it can take video in near darkness which is great for what I do. It only has composite and an S-video output. I currently run it's composit video out to a Korg Krossfour video mixer to mix between camera and VDJ. I would love to see a plug-in that would allow a fire wire and USB input to display the camera's output. I would need a capture card to convert to USB I think, but from there a plugin with a slider controll to control the opacity of the camera image would be very useful. That way, in a sense it would act as a third video mixer channel. The output of the camera would be sent directly to the main video out instead of deck A or B. This way, at any time you could activate the camera and use the slider to either overlay the video image on the output, or put the slider to 100% and you would only see the camera output, but you would still be able to use the audio of either Deck. I'm no programmer. I'm simply making a request that I've been wanting for years, but so far, I have not seen anything like this. It seems that the idea has been abandoned by VDJ, but it would be VERY useful. Anyone like this idea?

Mine already does that!

My camera has an USB output, the software came with the camera.
It's just a cheap camera I bought only for this purpose (bought from Aldi store for about £60 UK Pounds).
Traveler DV-5000 (with 3 year warranty).

In VDJ I only have to select the Camera plugin to use the output to screen. The camera when used like this is working in a webcam mode and cannot use the zoom features, etc. However, there are various software facilities supplied in the software to distort pictures, have overlays like a bubble effect floating up the screen reflecting the 'live' pictures, etc., etc.

I'm not talking about a web cam, but instead, being able to plug in the output of my professional video camera's firewaire port and feed that output into VDJ to in effect use VDJ as a video mixer so that the camera output can be mixed in with the 2 VDJ decks as an overlay with adjustable opacity. I tried it a few times in past version of VDJ but never could get a picture. If any of the developers read this, can you comment or consider this for future developements to implement in future release versions of VDJ?

This sounds like a good idea for a transparent image overlay of a singer over a karaoke screen while singing or a karaoke music video backdrop of the singer while the words scroll across the screen or while playing audio...Wow this would be nice,....and a people attractor,.....and if you can record it...hmmm??

Big ++++++++

Hey guys, gues what. I loaded Virtual 6.05 onto my main gig machine and just for shits and giggles, I plugged the firewire from the camera into the firewire port on my laptop, went to the video fx page and clicked activate camera and it worked. I not sure why it didn't work on my desktop which also has 6.05 and is a much more powerful machine, but hey, my desktop doesn't go out on gigs, my laptop does. One thing I did notice though was small groups of vertical lines that would appear and disappear ast random. The other buttons present in VDJ on the camera tab, "DEVICE", "SOURCE" and "FORMAT" didn't do anything when I clicked on them. Nothing, nada, zilch! So I can click to activate the camera and it comes on instantly or off instantly with a click of the activate button. Now I need to find me a really long firwaire cable so the camera can be on the dance floor to capture candl lightings, etc..

I still think an added Opacity slider would make this camera effect so much more useful and valuable. The way it works right now is like a switch. Eitrher hard on or off. A slider would in effect me like a video fader, gradually fading in the video signal over the main output until either the video was all you saw or if you stopped it half way, you could be playing a music video and have a semi transparent crowd shot showing over the video. Can the team at VDJ add this to one of the future updates or can anyone here who programs plug-ins make one?

Anyone?

I'm not sure how your signal comes through with the firewire, but...

Could you use your video crossfader as your requested "slider" to cause the variation in opacity that you are looking for?

On the external Mixer, yes. That's how I currently do it. I would love to be able to do it without the need for an external video mixer though and do everything through vdj. Just need a video fader/Opacitry Fader installed on the camera plugin if someone can program it. I would also love to see someone come out with a better text plugin than the text 2d. Something a little more flexable and elaborate. The text 2d works butr is limited and sometimes doesn't work and activate un less you activate and deactivate it a couple of time.

Is this something maybe what you are after...

Developed by Firetext for users of VDJ and the best part it's FREE,

with the full version you can have...

1/ Your seperate karaoke screen showing in one part of the screen.

2/ The cam onto your singer in another segment or a music video or even a big sporting event the guys don't want to miss.

3/ In another segment have a text voting poll showing who is the crowds favorite singer... or not, or you could have the venues adverts running on the adrotator throughout the night.

4/ Finally sms text vertically scrolling showing messages from the crowd.

The permutations for this plugin are endless.

I actually made the template for one of the guys last week and he was blown away by it. (I'll dig it out and post it for you) it looked awesome with everything going on on screen and your crowd will love it.

If you guys would like to see anything else added to the effects side let me know and I'll pass them on to our development team. And I'll see if they can be included for our next release.

If anyone wants a copy of our plugin just get in touch with me by pm.

Paul.

Here is the template i made for the guy and you can see how it was all laid out for him, the top right hand segment i have replaced with an image as it's after 2am here and I'm to tired and ready for bed to set up the vertical text scoller, but you get the idea how it looks on screen anyway.
