As a owner of MixVibes, when I used the demo of Virtual DJ I noticed that the Vinyl Simulation is not very good. If you can improve this point, I personally think that Virtual DJ will be the best DJ Software out there. I personally love the skin- the over lapping waveforms are the best thing ever known to DJ software. So yes, I will try the demo of the next version again to see how well it does next time. I enjoyed the days I got with the demo, Thanks Guys!

And the Vinyl Simulation sound comes from the Performance Settings to mitigate over processing the lower the Performance settings the lower quality the emulation sound of vinyl. See the manual about the Performance tab to understand the settings.
