Use EAC ! Best program around and its for free !! :)

Use Lame Encoder for creating mp3 and never go below 320k.
Everything else will never sound the way your CD's do. Of course presuming you got a decent stereo with proper speakers ...

I recommend AudioGrabber. Great software... I bought it when they were still charging $20, but it is now free. You will have to install a decent mp3 codec with it though because the one it comes with is very low quality. The online help that comes with it contains instructions for installing a codec.

I rip at 192Kbs which maybe not quite CD quality, but when you are blasting it from loud speakers, the difference is not noticeable at all. If you only play on a home stereo system, you will notice the difference though.

Do any of these pieces of software have he abilty to find names and other information (mainly iD3 tags) for tracks that you have ripped. It takes me ages to name all the tracks that i have ripped and most of the time they stay as Track1, Track2, etc and so i don't know what the track is untill iv started listening to it.
