Hello all I'm back after Geeking out at a Gig using VDJ 3.0.
Yes i think there is Hope here. This is what you need to
install. FFDSHOW is a DirectShow decoding filter for decompressing
DivX, XviD, WMV, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 movies. Now you need to
read carefully how to use it. It's easy but very advanced & yes
I use this all the time now with VDJ 3.0. No Stutts or Jerks;
just smooth videos. This program intercepts the DirectShow calls for the Codecs; That's why this still works with VDJ 3.0. First you Download from here:

Download the newest one on that site.
Then you Unzip this to wherever you want. Than Click on the
installer [ffdshow-20050609.exe]; This is located wherever
you un-zipped it. Now Juring the install you'll see Checkmarks
on the Types of video Types. You can leave Defaults but Check
where it says [Mpeg1] & [Mpeg2] video Types as well. These are
un-checked by Default. Click next OK or whatever. Leave the next
screen [audio filters] Default. Click next, next.etc. If you experience
any problems just uninstall the problematic Codec in your computer. NOTE: Don't Click 1 or 2 on Preview window;
Keep on 1+2. Check This my MP1's Play using Less than
5% CPU utilization on Athlon XP 2400. Yah!
Please read the info file that comes with this. Hope this helps Ya'll...

O.K. so far so good. I've noticed that some of the Mpeg1 videos don't play so hot [they were free so could've been crappy encodes; but the VOB rips play awesome [less cpu]. Just rename
the .vob to .mpg; also ther's lots of PostProcessing features included
to enhance the videos. Kinda kool. The audio part doesn't get used
because VDJ 3.0 takes over after the video decoding > [VDJFilter] +
has 2 input pins; 1 audio in & 1 video [decoded video]; the
[video multiplexer/splitter audio part] runs straight to >VDJFilter audio pin. So enjoy the VDJ internal audio filters cause you stuck with it. Oh just try the OSD
setting; this displays stats on your video window. Have fun DJing & don't
activate the Mpeg1 on video codec settings page; this doesn't work very
well yet. Improvements are noticed most of the supported
codecs. mpeg2 [dvd], avi, 3ivx, divx, etc. Not Mpeg1. The
quality [video appearance seems better] as well. The Mpeg2
Ex: 30-40% less cpu. utilized. Remember to select Mpeg2
on the codec property page on ffdshow decoder page.

After more testing I definately notice a reduce in cpu usage. Good work ;)

I upgraded to the 72.13 nv drivers on my 6600gt and got a little bit of a performance gain (not much less than 5 points in aquamark) But the video seems to be a little better.
Using ffdshow totally freeks out vdj and videos aren't de-interlaced right and look very very bad. I uninstalled ffd and the de-interlacing problem is gone. Very strange.

Hello all, very strange Cyderhouse! that you have bad looking videos.
Maybe my settings are making my Set-Up better. Try the De-Interlace
Setting in the [Deinterlace] Settings page in FFDShow. Because ffdshow
leaves the videos naturally as the original. Forgot to mention that. Normal
decoders sometimes De-Interlace or the Video Card Does without you knowing
it [Progressive]. Well also depends on the Type of Videos Cyderhouse; Promo Only are naturally Interlace content on the DVD; also on my LCD i see it interlaced also so use the settings in FFDShow; just select [libavcodec], Don't use the audio Codec Page in FFDShow; keep all disabled; i find sometimes can fool VDJ & leaves video window Blank. Also Don't forget to enable your video type in FFDShow on the Codecs Page in FFDShow. I used this Last night Thursday & worked Flawlessly all night; not a single crash 4.5 hours
of videos. I Like this program alot! Some people even recognised the Program
& said they tried & liked this VDJ 3.0 as well. So if anyone has any questions just
post in Forum & I'll try my best to help you. Thanks all...

learning curve but well worth the effort right. You'll know when
FFDShow is Decoding the videos when you see a black [FF] icon bottom
right of screen. If you don't see this than FFDShow is not running; meaning
why you have no performance Gains. Check also on the Codecs Settings Page
in FFDShow for the Codec Type your using; should have [libavcodec] chosen.
This is the Library that takes over from your System Codecs. I hope i've
helped someway.
