Sujet: Song will not start where spacebar pressed. CBG slips

Hi All,

Really need some help. I use Vdj 6.0.8. I am having a nightmare re: my deck 1. I have all my songs CBG (Computer beat grid) manually aligned. What that means that all my songs have correct CBG.

Problem:

1. When I start songs in deck 1 the song does not start exactly where I press space bar. Rather I see the CBG kind of slips ahead or behind from deck 2 song’s CBG and every time I have to manually adjust it. I used not to have this problem before.

2. This effects only deck 1 and not deck 2. So if use the same combination of songs but in reverse order so that the deck 1 song is now on deck 2 and I am trying to start the deck 2 song, I do not have this problem. The song starts exactly where I pressed the space bar.

3. This is not a skin problem as it affects all skins

Please help.

Try turning off smart play or beatlock............then since 6.xx is obsolete delete that and download the FREE HOME VERSION, http://www.virtualdj.com/download/free.html

v6.0.8 is an old and out of date version of the software. There have been many changes and improvements to the software since then (See http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/VirtualDJ_History.html ) - We are now on v7.0.4

If you are using VirtualDJ for home use only without MIDI controllers/timecode/video, then you can download and use VirtualDJ v7 Home from http://www.virtualdj.com/download/free.html - This version can be used completely free of charge for non-commercial home use (It may not be used a DJ gigs where you are being paid.)


You may have turned on 'smart play' - It's the small padlock above the PLAY button on the default VirtualDJ v7 skin. If it's lit orange, click on it to turn it off.

Or beatlock is turned on (SYNC button on the default skins is lit permanently.) In earlier versions of the software, this was mapped to 'B' by default and was easy to trigger by accident. It is now mapped to SHIFT+B by default. If it's on, turn it off by pressing its shortcut. If it's mapped to B then you should change its key via CONFIG -> Mappers -> Keyboard to SHIFT+B to avoid accidental triggering.

You can turn off smart play, smart cue and beatlock by mapping a key to the follows:

smart_play off & smart_cue off & beatlock off

This will turn off the auto beat matching features for the current selected deck (Press TAB to choose) when you press it.

My keyboard is mapped to various actions and button B is used for something else.

What I have done is this, I mapped key D (empty key slot) to smart_play off & smart_cue off & beatlock off and this problem goes away from Deck 1

I believe the main culprit was smart_cue which may have been turned on but do not know how..

I would love to move to Vdj 7 but here is the main problem I am facing.. a lot of my mapping does not work the way I want to it to work..

as an example:

keyboard key H = deck active eq_kill_low

I have this can toggle between both decks (I am only using 2 decks)

I do not understand this..

do we not have deck active and deck default anymore...in VDj 7

First of all thanks a lot to Support staff..

I now have played around these commands and pin pointed the problem..it was actually the verb 'smart_play' which was on and I do not know how it was on but it was..

I now have assigned Keyboard button 'D' = smart_play off & smart_cue off & beatlock off

And I press this button 'D' every time I start a set..

thank you so much for this assistance.. I was having a nightmare.

Yes, there is still deck active (The one currently playing out live) and the deck default (The one that you are pre-listening to.)

Press TAB to toggle between them.
