According to the user guide I should be able to analyze a group of songs by right clicking on a folder on the left navigation panel and select Scan for BPM's. When i right click on any folder I get two choices.
Show recommendations for this folder
and
Downlod all recomendatiions for this folder
There is no Scan for BPM selection as the manual says.

You're not clicking on a folder - you're clicking on a virtual folder i.e a blue or red one.
If you select an actual folder (one on your hard drive) using the computer icon at the top of the nav panel, you'll get that option.
Or you can select a file or files from the main browser window, right click and select it.
