Sujet how to recognize DRM protected files?

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Is there anyway to tell if a file is DRM protected before you mess around with it? I know all songs from netsearch are. And from my research people claim that .mp3's aren't DRM protected but I downloaded an mp3 and vdj claims that it is protected.

Is there maybe something in the mp3's file information/properties that shows this?

***EDIT: looking here (I have XP) http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_know_if_the_music_is_protected_by_DRM it says the file that VDJ claims is protected is not protected...so how I am simply confused, any help?

*****PROBLEM SOLVED (for anyone who's interested): i tried the same song again, unloading and reloading it to the deck, didn't have the problem a second time. still curious as to what happened.

PS: This should be deleted if no one cares.

All NetSearch songs are encrypted with proprietary DRM and can only be played in VirtualDJ.

NetSearch files cannot be played and/or manipulated in any other application (E.g: Audio editor such as Audacity.)

If you are unable to load a file then this is probably because the DRM for it has expired. You need to be logged into NetSearch in VirtualDJ with an active Internet connection to renew expired files.
