I just updated my Intel 5100 Wi-Fi drivers to the latest version and discovered the sound had lots of clicking glitches whenever the Wi-Fi was in use together with many red spikes on the latency checker when copying files over Wi-Fi. Downgrading the drivers back to the version from the Acer Website - V12.4.1.11 cured the problem as well as lowered the CPU usage when copying files.
Haven't done any speedtests to see if that has also crippled the Wi-Fi throughput but it plays music fine now.
Hopefully this will help someone use both VDJ and Wi-Fi at the same time.
