im unsure if this is a bug or not, but why is there several different fonts used in the browser? i looks very untidy, surely one font is enough?

There shouldn't be.
It may appear to be squashed (like Arial Narrow) if depending on your browser fit settings.

The Browser automatically changes the width of the font if it can display everything without scrolling.
If you don't like this behavior you can change browserTextFit in the Options.
If you don't like this behavior you can change browserTextFit in the Options.
