You know the type, caused by cheap smoke machines, halogen light switches, that sort of thing.
In 7 they'd cause the controller to fail sometimes, sometimes changing and reapplying the controller in the options would get it on, sometimes a close and open of VDJ.
In 8 this has happened to me and causes a complete lock up of the software, can't close it, can't do anything but reboot, which is decidedly not good at all.
Can anything be done to stop the hard crash?

IMO the best thing to do would be to tackle it from your hardware.
Use mains filters and spike protectors. Use cables fitted with chokes/filters, or fit some to your existing cables.
If it's your own kit that's causing the spikes etc. then you could get it modified by someone competent.

Done all that. However it's never 100% fixable, and venues often have things that cause it, like fridges and air con etc.
I'd have hoped that the issue would be made easier to fix and not cause more of a problem.
Maybe the devs could look at putting in something that stops the program crashing stone cold dead, as 7 didn't do this anywhere near as bad.
