Hello I thought about this thread to help non-english people to ask some questions about translating.

So first question is :

Let's say I have a filter to dim brightness. This filter would have two strengths.

I would like to call the heaviest one "strong".

What would the other call then ? "Weak" ??

Brightness of what? The skin colour (so a visual thing) or the sound (an audible thing)?

If it's brightness of the skin, I would suggest 'bright' and 'dim' or 'dull'.

If the highest setting is 'Strong' then the lowest setting would be 'weak' or you cold use 'mild'

but you yourself used,
heaviest > lightest

here might help http://www.synonym.com/antonyms/strong/

Oh yeah !

mild : doux (soft, sweet, mild, gentle, smooth, tender)

That seems to be my answer ! Btw it is for dimming some images, not sound. Also that's not to describe high and low values (+ / -), but two steps of a lowering filter (- / --).

So, mild / strong seems to be a convenient couple ?

Works for cheese, don't see why it wouldn't work for fruit!

"Subtle" could also work.

Subtle / Strong ? would fit together ?

Not bad at all. Still thinking about mild, or maybe 'soft' which I didn't remember first.

1) "Every vu-meter is..."

Or

2) "Every vu-meters are..."

?
