@ DJ Dad; did you really ask which functionality is missing from VDJ 7? Do you not read the complaints on the forum? where is clipbank with loop function? where is drag and drop onto the video? How do you take one of the most used features and replace it with a more time consuming feature? Just admit that VDJ 8 is not the success story that your team and users thought it would be.

I really like the multi colored LED pads of the SX2 ;) LOL
Posté Sun 10 Aug 14 @ 1:46 pm
So they add multi-colored pads and one new feature to resell the ddj-sx; how does that make any sense?
Posté Sun 10 Aug 14 @ 5:35 pm
Read the article. They also upgraded the soundcard
Posté Sun 10 Aug 14 @ 6:47 pm
And with that also a better microphone signal handling. But this will be under the category "better soundcard" I think.
The multi-colored pads will help me. If the SZ wasn't so expensive I would bought it, because I think it is very helpfull if you can use a pad color for vocal points, beat points etc.

At least this is an upgrade, unlike the MC6000 Mk2 which was actually a lesser spec than the first one.
Probably not enough to make someone upgrade who already has a SSX, but for someone like me who has never had one it corrects a lot of the issues with the original SX and in all honesty it's not a bad price considering the technology.
Not sure what's happening with Denon, but it's been dead from their camp lately, probably due to the fact they're being taken over.
No controller or software is perfect for everyone's needs, it's trying to find something close that matters!

I own a SX and I still want to buy this version 2 :)
I have a DDJ Ergo as a (hot-standby) backup.. With this purchase I have the SX as a backup and sell the Ergo immediately :)

I have to agree. I love my SX and I want an SX2 because of the added features. Ive also discovered that Serato DJ works and sounds better with the SX, so Im using that with my SX, but still using vd7.4 with my American Audio gear.

How does the VDJ mapper compare to Serato, and are the VDJ effects as good?

Unfortunately Serato is faster and a bit better in pad handling and better sounding effects. Also the effect knobs react as you want.
But, I use video, karaoke, text to screen etc. So I can't work without Vdj.
Also in my opinion vdj looks better and is more understandable for me. The many different skins options and plugins and free updates make my vdj leading above serato.
But honestly, if you just want a super fast ddj sx with marvelous sound and great crystal clear effects and nothing more.... Than Serato wins with the ddj sx.
And I'm a 100% vdj fan, but also realistic.
All this text is my personal opinion. I respect everyone's own opinion so please don't attack me ;)

I would guess it would be better with Serato as it's made for the software. My MC-6000 is perfect with VDJ7 for the same reason.
Be interesting to see how the Team map this as there's a perfect opportunity for Atomix to use this controller to showcase the features of version 8

If I was vdj manager, I wouldn't use a controller with big letters "Serato" on it for a showcase :)
Posté Mon 11 Aug 14 @ 3:11 pm
There hasn't been much activity at all lately with VirtualDJ branding on controllers. Probably due to the long delay in releasing V8.
Serato seem to have it all, but that doesn't mean that other controllers can't be midi mapped with similar functionality unless they are "locked" to specific software.

The ddj-sx responds instantly to serato dj. Effects, samplers, decks are instant, and im using a PC, I imagine it would be flawless with a mac. I run serato video but its shit compared to virtual dj, . I raised allot of hell when 8 came out, and Ive come to realize these pioneer controllers just dont do everything needed with this software.

Looks like Denon are alive ..... but in bed with Serato as well. Hmmmmmm

Looks like Serato heared about VDJ 8, immediately took there wallet and bought a lot of contracts with different hardware manufacturers to keep up in the market LOL

That's a point of view thing.
It could also mean: Here look at our great software. It can handle every kind of controller, while others can't.

I'm seriously considering one of these. I've been hoping that Denon would bring something BIG to the table, but they're still hyping that 6000 mkII thing. My crossfader is starting to go on my 6000 mkI (if that is what we should call it now), and after a few years of dealing with failing hot cue buttons, I think it is time to put it to bed. My hope is to be able to use this with VDJ 8 at some point. Just for info sake, can anyone tell my why everyone hates Serato video so much? I only have a viewers take on it, and honestly I'm not too impressed with the transitions and such that I have seen, but at the end of the day, my only true desire is to be able to output music videos to the monitors in the venues where I work. There are many things I REALLY like about this controller. This killed it for me ever considering the SZ. Does anyone know if the 10,000 preorder mark has been hit?

You dont need a Serato upgrade for DVS
VirtualDJ 8 – Denon MC6000MKII

This mode outputs signals for the input channels 3/4 to the computer directly without passing through the mixer of the MC6000MKII (Useful for Timecode Setup - DVS).
. When you set the USB Audio Output Source Select Switcher (65) to ‘LN3/4 THRU’ position, the audio signals from the USB audio output terminal are set as follows.
...
LINE3: Output from the USB 1/2 channels to the computer.
• LINE4: Output from the USB 3/4 channels to the computer.
Use this mode to control one or more VirtualDJ decks with Timecode CDs or Vinyls. Connect your CD players or your Turntables to the Line Inputs 3 and 4.
Go to the AUDIO tab of VirtualDJ config and create the following audio setup
....
Once the Timecode Inputs are set as above in the Audio setup, the TIMECODE panels will appear at the SCRATCH center panel of the default 4 deck skin.
Use the ON buttons to enable the timecode control to any of the 4 software decks
Note. Timecode function requires a Pro Infinity license

Does anyone know if the SX (or version 2) has a 2 channel external sound card like the MC6000 or does it only work in software mode?
