Yes, you don't have to delete the version that you have, just update it. It is a good practice to backup your database, on a regular basis.

right, i want to save my samples to, so when i update my version what do i need to do to reinstall my samples. btw i use an external hard drive

If you update to a new build, you will have to reinstall the samples to the sample banks, and to the slots that you had before. Hopefully, you remember where you got the samples from, because they are still there. Just drag and drop.
Not sure I understand about the NS6II. If you had a different controller, you will need to map to the new controller, but your keyboard maps will remain the same.
