My controller is a Roland DJ808 and bought in January 2019
I'll try to describe it as far as it is still remembered:
Saturday at my DJ-Job in the Club the Controller crashes down and have no Sound and other Problems.
When pressing the sync button, the controller crashed .... Restart system including computer. Then ran until the end of the evening ... .. Unfortunately only very limited .... SynaButton is not usable and I did not even dare to push buttons for other actions.
At home on Sunday. The computer (VirtualDJ 2018 LatestVersion) started and the R808 as usual, I used the sound output BOOTH MONITOR at home (in the club the MASTER-Out !!) Then everything ran again as it should be.
All buttons worked as usual and everything was fine. Then I used again the sound output MASTEROUT - and immediately it came back to this crash behavior or the SyncButton played immediately crazy again ... ..that means: if I loaded a title on deck 1 with 118BPM and this with a title on deck2 with 124BPM with the sync key wanted to adjust, then jumps the uncontrolled either to a value of 81Beats or high on 163Beats.
If you operate the sampler function the output sound crashes ... ..the software keeps running.
When the "only" BOOTH MONITOR is used, the whole "SPUK" is not present and everything is running normally.
The technical support of Roland has now tested the device and says that it is probably related to Virtual DJ why these errors occur. If tested with Serato, the controller would work properly.

When you say that you use the Booth Output, you just connect speakers to the Booth Output socket of the DJ-808, you dont add a Booth line to the VDJ Audio Setup, right ?
Your Audio setup is as shown here ?

I really dont see how a software can crash by just connecting (or not) something to an audio socket. Unless by "crash" you mean some distorted/flactuated sound from Sampler - which could make sense if try to get a 160BPM Sample down to 80 or vice versa)

Ok ... I'll try again.
At home I use the BOOTH-OUT for the sound output to the small monitor boxes. So I can use VDJ with the controller without any problems and all the buttons etc. as well as my mapping work flawlessly and without any problems ..... also 8 hours at a time: - ).
Now I had a DJ job in a disco on a Saturday night and did not use the BOOTH-OUT but the MASTER-OUT as a sound output and then I had this failure of the Roland R808, sound is suddenly gone when I pressed one of the CUE-PADS and also the SyncButtons gave wrong values if for example on Deck 2 124BPM were displayed and I then wanted to adjust the track on Deck 1 via Symc button I got on Deck1 either 80 BPM displayed or sometimes 163 BPM.
I then followed everything at home again. With several reboots of the controller and VDJ I could then determine the following:
Restart with sound output on BOOTH-OUT always OK.
Restart with sound output on MASTER-OUT first everything OK and then with a second restart came then again these errors with the Sync. I then several times the driver completely deleted from the system W10 - also cleaned the registry - and everything on NEW - as when the controller is connected for the first time - reset and then restarted. The driver was loaded directly from the Internet and also installed correctly, at the start of the controller were also the cables to BOOTH-OUT or MASTER-OUT connected, and the amplifier to the speakers turned on and each time it came back to the errors when the sound should go to MASTER-OUT - with BOOTH-OUT this was never the case there everything was always OK.
The service of the company Roland wrote me now that it would probably hang with the VDJ software and the controller actually runs only with Serato perfectly.

Regarding SYNC, keep in mind that a Deck will match its BPM to the MASTER deck. The MASTER Deck is by default automatically assigned by VirtualDJ to whatever Deck is currently playing out live (on-air) but can also be set manually. So there is a chance when you press SYNC and expect the Deck to get the same BPM as the other Deck, to get the value from another Deck that was set as MASTER at that time.
If you use the 4 Decks default skin, pay attention to the MASTER (gray/orange) text indicators to see which Deck is set as MASTER at that time.
As for your audio issue, one thing i would also try would be to set the computer's built-in sound card as default for the OS instead of the Roland DJ-808.
When a USB sound card is connected to a computer, Windows will select that as the default sound card, and this may cause some hickups at some point (some ASIO drivers require exclusive use of their WASAPI to work properly). So with the DJ-808 connected, open windows Sound panel, see if the DJ-808 is selected as default playback/recording device and change so that its using the Built in instead.
