I'm a novice bedroom DJ
From the photo below my pad lights are on for Flanger and Reverb. But for Echo and Cut I have to press them to come on. All 4 are scripted the exact same. What am I dong wrong?

however the effect slot are 3, so that only 3 status are saved at exit

effect_slider 'FLANGER' 1 80% & effect_slider 'FLANGER' 2 100% & effect 'FLANGER' active while_pressed
so are you saying only 3 of the 8 buttons will actually light up?

effect_slider 'FLANGER' 1 80% && effect_slider 'FLANGER' 2 100% && effect 'FLANGER' active while_pressed
your version, the button reads
effect_slider 'FLANGER' 1 80%
if true the button lights up, if not it doesn't
by linking commands with && the button will read all actions and only light up if all are true
