96 v 44.1.. same result?, nah your right, but it isn't a true reproduction, @quartz vdj is bit perfect, If you're serious on sound, 1 in 1 out. get a processing rack, you're arguing a dumbing down, the app you're talking about is a sub synthesis & exciter absolutely nothing new, a lot of us have them in our rack we don't want nor need them in the SW sound chain

If you want vdj to output to your sound card at 96 khz, first make sure that this is indeed the case.
So check in the audio config in vdj what samplerate the sound card is opened with.
If it is not 96khz, check in your mac's audio midi config if the sound card indeed supports 96khz.
If it does, try to set the samplerate option in vdj option to 96000.
Second though, resampling a file from 44khz to 96khz will not change anything. There's a small very small chance that resampling in software is better than what the DAC does but that is actually unlikely if the DAC is able to work directly in 44khz too.
There are 2 settings in vdj that you can use if you do have your output samplerate at 96khz but playing 44khz files.
The first is scratchQuality which is determining the resample quality. Increasing it a little bit might give you better results.
The second is pitchQuality, which should also be set to 3 for best quality, although it shouldn't make much difference if you are playing the files at normal speed.
Finally, when you compare the vdj and roon, make absolutely sure that the volume is exactly the same, and when asking people to compare make sure they don't know which source they are listening to. (the ideal setup is a double-blind listening test, but that might be difficult to setup)
