In any circumstance it would be unwise to go to a gig without some kind of backup. That's why I use VDJ for video and have a pen drive in my MCX8000 with audio files should anything go wrong.
As I said before the chance of a crash whilst using any of these builds is minimal. The trust issue you have is a personal thing. After using VDJ since 2008 and never having anything go wrong at a gig I obviously have a different trust level to you and that's what I base my decisions on and I have no issue at all using early access builds to play out.
Would you rather have a developer like Adion who has his finger on the pulse and can fix bugs straight away or Denon who take months (if not years) between updates and don't even bother fixing the bugs they introduce?
