Sujet Connecting 2 Midi controllers
Hi, I Would like to connect a midi keyboard (Akai MPK Mini) along with my primary controller Denon MC4000.
I need Akai MPK Mini to trigger samples etc. may be knobs for stems.

Is that possible ?

Yes it is easy to connect 2, or more, midi controllers to Virtual DJ.

Did you mean the Akai APC Mini which would be perfect for samples. (and is natively fully supported by VDJ)

The Akai MPK Mini is a keyboard (piano) layout, midi controller that can be connected to Virtual DJ with your Denon MC4000 Controller, but it may require you to create definitions for it. (as I don't see it on the list of natively supported AKAI controllers https://www.virtualdj.com/manuals/hardware/akai/index.html )

Hey thanks for your response,

I just have Akai MPK mini, the whole idea is to maybe play samples with the drum pads on the Mpk Mini and may be use knobs to play with stems.

I tried mapping it but i failed, is there a tutorial to map a non supporting midi controller ?

Let me know! Cheers

Here are the Wiki links for creating a definition file.

http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Controller%20Developers.html

http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/ControllerDefinitionMIDIv8.html

And others more experienced here, may be able to help you, like DJDad, Locodog, Adion, PhantomDeeJay and others.

first you need to create the definition XML file which you will place in your VirtualDJ/Devices folder. (win 10)

you will need the MidiOx app, to get the midi that each button and knob sends/receives, (and the manual from the manufacturer, with midi info), to assist in creating the definition file.

once you have the Definition file, then VDJ will recognize the Akai MPK Mini device and you can add actions you wish, from within VDJ, for the buttons and Knobs that you have defined previously, ie, creating the Mapper.

and I did find this thread: (was hoping someone may have created a definition)
