Just bought a DDJ400 and I’m gutted to realise that mic audio doesn’t actually go the the connected device via USB! So … no mic FX possible. I can probably work around this with an extra interface for now, but for future reference - are there controllers that support this?

Yes, VDJ can apply Effects to a Mic input, as long as it's a USB one or part of the USB audio interface. That's not the case for DDJ-400 though.
The majority of the controllers dont have USB mic, meaning that the signal of the Mic input is going directly to the Master Output and not part of the USB audio interface. Main reason is the latency applied to software mics (and probably the cost ;) )
If you use a USB mic, you ll need to add it to the VDJ Audio setup and the easiest way to apply FXs is to install this Pads page
