Hi all ! I know there are already topics regarding issues with stems 2.0 . Basically Im looking at buying a new laptop that will use all virtual DJ functions without issue ! I can probably spend upto £2000 but would rather not spend more than 1500 if possible 2k is really pushing it . I've got my eye on the ASUS ROG Flow X16 AMD Ryzen 9 32GB RAM 1TB SSD NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti 16" 165Hz has anyone got any experience with that piece of kit ? From reading some bits on the forum Im not sure if the amd plays well with VDJ ? is that Nvidia card working well with VDJ as if seen some people saying 3050 rtx doesn't work even though VDJ recommend using it ? Any other suggestions regarding laptops? Ideally a 16 inch if possible thanks in advance for all your help

I tested a ROG Ryzen 9 of a similar spec and it wasn't great. There is an inherent problem with these chips that causes intermittent freezing which I encountered. Apparently BIOS need to be updated to solve the issue but the laptop I had still had the issue even with the latest updates. I read that ASUS aren't being proactive with this. I also found the graphics performance underwhelming and stems weren't as quick as I thought they would be.
I've always used Intel for my DJ laptops since 1999 and now I see why. I settled on a Legion 7i Gen 7 i9, 32gb, RTX3080Ti and it's absolutely perfect. Calculates stems at 28x in balanced mode so 7 seconds a track. Was £2600 though.
With anything there's a trade off between price and performance but personally I wouldn't use Ryzen instead of Intel, especially for VDJ.

With RTX 3070 you should get around 20x for real-time Stems, so good to go.
But i would also prefer Intel for CPU

Thanks for the fast replies chaps ! I'll have a look at the legion 7 that kradcliffe suggested maybe I'll get lucky and find a refurbished one ... An i9 would be perfect but then they are i9 money i7 3070 should be good enough to use with the new stems 2.0?

Yes that would be fine.
The Legion 7i Gen 7 is last year's model (2022) but is far better than the new one as Lenovo have removed loads of features.

Yeah that's the one down from the one I have.
It's a beautiful chassis and great screen. Good price too. The i9 ones are sold out everywhere as they are so popular.
