Sujet Virtual DJ folders?!
Trying to work out a way to move Virtual DJ seamlessly between my Desktop and Laptop.

Can't find a way to set where the database is stored, indeed there seems to be at least two different databases- one in user settings, and one on the root of the HDD where my music is.

Can the software be configured to use one folder for both?

No.
There's a reason why 2 (or more) databases exist.
The reason is that each database is "local" to the specific drive. This way you can plug the same drive on different machines and have all the database info ready. You don't need to copy/paste files just in order to use the same HDD on a different computer.

Technical info:
All drives that contain media files that VirtualDJ has "seen" will have a database.xml file located inside a "VirtualDJ" folder on the root of the drive. Example: G:\VirtualDJ\database.xml
The only exception is the drive that holds VirtualDJ "home" directory. "Home" directory is the main folder in which VirtualDJ keeps all the info it needs to operate, such as settings, history files, playlists files, skins, samples, e.t.c.
The "Home" directory is by default placed either inside "Application Data" special Windows folder, or under "Documents" windows folder on older installations.
This means that for 99.9% of people, VirtualDJ "Home" folder will be on "C" drive.
Therefore, you will not see a C:\VirtualDJ folder with a database.xml file in it.
Instead, the database for this drive (C) is located inside the "Home" folder.

Finally, VirtualDJ databases are designed in a way that they can be merged (by the software) in real time.
This means that VirtualDJ reads all "database.xml" files at the same time, creating a "big" database that has information for all connected drives. If you disconnect a drive, it's database will get removed from memory. If you connect an extra drive that has a database.xml file, this database will get merged with the database that's already in memory.
This way VirtualDJ can work with multiple drives without the user ever need to worry about copying/moving database information.
