Only thing I can think of that vdj is lacking is a better pitch control

Could you explain this some more? How are you moving the pitch? What about the movement do you find wrong (in more precise terms if possible).
There are quite a few pitch related vdjscript verbs that you can possibly use to adjust the response to your liking as well.

Like posted just above it all depends on your current pitch range. If that is set to maybe 6% and you have decent quality pitch fader in your hardware, it won't seem like it's jumping
If you have a huge pitch range, like maybe 50%, then it will feel jumpy almost regardless of your pitch fader quality

ok thanks I'll try 6% and see what happens , I actually had it set to 50% but coming from serato it just seems different
