Sujet: Very short audio dropouts
I get occasional, random audio dropouts of up to 7 milliseconds. I measured the duration using the recorded music audio. The dropouts are noticeable, but not nearly as abrupt as a 100 millisecond dropout would be. This happens on audio and video tracks. I'm running the current version of VDJ Pro on a 2025 Alienware 16 Aurora gaming laptop.

When I moved to the new PC, I installed a newer VDJ Pro version and switched from Win 10 to Win 11. I have been using the bigger USB-A ports to cable from my new PC, to the mini USB jack on my older Numark Mixtrack Edge controller. I'm suspecting a USB issue on my new PC since my Numark controller worked fine on my previous PC before I switched to the new PC. I was able to once trigger the dropout by loading a song onto the idle controller deck and once by closing the Spotify app.

What I've tried:
1. I've changed out the USB cable twice, including a very short cable which didn't help.

2. A powered USB hub didn't help so it's not that the new PC can't power the DJ controller.

3. Trying different PC USB ports didn't help while using a USB adapter for the smaller USB-C ports. They all had the same dropout issue. I also bought a USB-C (PC) to mini USB (Numark controller) cable that avoids a USB-C adapter but that didn't work either.

4. VDJ Pro is installed on the C drive. I moved the played song from the D drive to the C drive too, thinking it could be an issue with a newer D drive that I installed myself. Didn't help.

5. I also notice that as the audio waveform scrolls by right to left as it's playing in VDJ Pro, it is visually jittering at a pretty high rate, left/right and up/down. I never noticed this before. This may or not be an issue but maybe it indicates that the USB data is jittery or flakey causing communication retries (?). (I can send a video file showing the jitter). Does the audio data stream realtime through the USB cable from the PC to the DJ controller? Video leaves the PC via HDMI cable and routes to a video projector, so I don't think video data goes to the controller. And the controller button pushes should be sent to VDJ Pro via the USB cable.

6. My Numark firmware is up to date. I made all critical updates to my PC's OS and firmware via Dell's website. I haven't made all suggested updates yet.

Any other ideas of what could cause/resolve occasional, random audio dropouts of up to 7 milliseconds? Do you think it's the USB interface or something else? I could buy another controller off of Amazon.

I haven't yet tried :

a) Optimize PC Settings: Disable power-saving features that might turn off USB ports, turn off Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, and close unnecessary background applications to free up CPU resources.

b) Adjust Buffer Size: Increasing the USB buffer size (latency settings) in your DJ software can give your computer more time to process the audio data, reducing dropouts.
