is there anyway to make the brake effect louder because sometimes it doesnt stand out enought, pcdj red brake effect is much clearer and noticeable than VDJs. I dont know how to program in c++ so any help would be good :)

I can easily increase the delay (until 10s)
Posté Tue 15 Nov 05 @ 8:54 am
not really interested on the delay more the sound it creates

djcel, if you can adjust the default brake time to be the same as the technics-1200
without having to adjust the plugin everytime that will be very usefull.
I just tested and a value about 0.40-0.50 sec sound very realistic to me.
I can measure my technics if you want to... or you can create some variations and name them :
eg: brake040.dll brake045.dll brake050.dll brake0.75.dll
without having to adjust the plugin everytime that will be very usefull.

@cel
Does it play and follow the gain of the song?
Never tried, but if the song is set at say gain +3... and the plugin is at gain zero...
then you would get a LOWER sound when using the effect.
If thats what the initial user is saying...
If so, can the plugin follow the volume set at the song playing ?

@apopsis
I'm working on it: do you prefer to have 4 buttons for each value or one button for all? @dj-in-norway The plugin is independent from the gain, it only plays with the samples to slow the song

djcel can you set an option to have a long brake ?
Posté Wed 16 Nov 05 @ 7:46 am
For buttons I suggest like "cut".
Posté Wed 16 Nov 05 @ 7:47 am
djcel : are you able to do something with the plugin that i suggested, just maybe increase the volume of the actual brake noise because its bearly noticeable sometimes , and if there is some way to add a little bit of distortion to it that would make it sounds better, for those who have used pcdj red and heard its brake you would know what iam talking about

@daza_mate
i have an idea but i'm not sure about the quality after that: i don't want to saturate the sound

@Djcel (or other plugins creators)
An important question:
Is it possible for brake fx and other plugins (atomix and vst) to save their settings
on exit ?
So everytime virtualdj starts or a plugin is loaded all latest parameters automatically preserved ?
(length for brake, speed and length for backspin and so on..)
Imagine a hardware player (cd or turntable) with a brake button and a "brake length" knob.
When you hit the power-on button the "brake length" knob remain where it was the last time.
If this is possible to implement i will ask it as a new feature, maybe just a "snapsot" or as a global way to load save presets
for plugins on start/close.
Let me know if this depends on plugins or the main program.
"do you prefer to have 4 buttons for each value or one button for all?"
Hey, after thinkink.. my advice is to make a 1200 brake simulator... you can also give it a relative name
I think many users will like it.
I measured the brake stop and the "power off" on my Technics 1200 using a good stopwatch..
Also i made some other tests.
Brake time: (average) 0.36 sec
Power off time: about 11-12 sec, but 10 sec will be fine (if this is the max for the plugin)
So you can do a version with 4 "easy" (buttons) presets
1. 0.36sec to simulate 1200's standard brake, -Set THIS as default-
2. 0.28sec (variation 1) works better in some cases (drum sounds with short attack envelopes etc.)
3. 0.48sec (variation 2) works better in some cases
4. 10sec (or 11.5 if possible) to simulate 1200's standard power off
What do you think ?
About the gain,
gain has already some "saturate" problems in vdj, so better don't bother
@daza_mate i you find the volume slightly lower in brake effect, that's normal it happens on real turntables too, volume is affected by speed.
A quick backspin will rize the volume, thats normal too.

Ok i will add your preset
Concerning the data to save, it's only can be done by plugins developpers (yes it's possible of course) and the dev team can't do anything for that (it's logical: they can't know what you are programming)

Done :-)
In a second version, i will add my own touch to avoid other people ask other presets

djcel have you actually made a new brake effect now? where can you download it from
Posté Wed 16 Nov 05 @ 9:07 pm
daza_mate: once it will be ready, you will be able to download it from the plugin effect section.
:)
:)
