This is more of a note/request to the vdj team.
I've been checking the vdj website most days now awaiting the new release or update for tcv/tccd users and I just thought it would be nice if all the registered users of vdj could get a email note informing them that there is an update ready to download with the new features & changes noted.
At the moment you can get an email notification for private messages that you have received. I'd like to think its not a far cry from that. I don't like using my laptop with vdj connected to the net because of viruses and other threats so unfortunately it will never be able to do the new update check.
I'm sure most users would probably appreciate this as well. If anybody else thinks this is a good idea, I would appreciate any support in this topic.

If your system is connected to the internet, notification is automatic if you have it enabled in config.
