Well , yes.

But music with a steady easy to dance to (Mostly uptempo) beat
with a country "touch" is more important than that it's just pure Country.
Rednex - Cotton Eye Joe Is a typical perfect line dance song.

Yo Spider

I am contracted to an events company as well, don’t know if you know I also combine photos as well into my daily activities ,so being a Disc jock is one side of my life and being a photographs is the other, so that is how I ended up with this gig. Main thing it pays the bills. Hope things turn out ok for you as you mentioned in your blog about losing your job.
Things can be tough in South Africa, and yes I am up in jhb

Oh this is a FANTASTIC topic.
I always get caught doing a line-dance segment in my usual bar gigs. I typically do the macarena (sp?) and the cha cha slide. But these other suggestions are just what I was starting to look for. Now about those step sheets? How do you cow-pokes make them work? Do you hand them out? Learn them yourself and become teacher? This boot-scootin thing is all new to me :-)

Thanks

first you need to find out the dance that is used for the song in your area.
Example "Good Ride Coeboy" Garth Brooks. There are about 8 or 9 different dances to that song. A few with the same name.
If you want you can get a step and then teach it to the people.
Some of the ones I mentioned are easy and some are more difficult. So you need to find out how much the people know. I would suggest the easy ones to start with.
If you or anyone needs step sheets on either a particular dane or the songs I mentioned earlier
just let me know and I will e- mail them to you.
Not sure if I can put my e-mail here so maybe you can PM me through this site.

I never realised the line dancing and square dancing had a fairly good group of followers until i was talking to my grandparents one day (as they are heavily involved) after they had come back from a weekend of square dancing.
They were realy happy becuase some realy good 'caller' from America was coming over sort of on tour. They had a ball, i was quite happy for them.. And i realised that being a caller in square dancing is the same thing as being a Dj sorta.. The better you can feel the crowd the better the choices you make and the happier the crowd are.

Useless story from Sean. :) Best of luck music match. Have fun

Sean
