I was looking at this on theNet and it now seems to have a 80Mb hard drive. has anybody tried one???

I saw this at my local guitar center. Personally, I don't get it. For the same price (or less) you can have a nice laptop and VDJ. VDJ has way more features than the HDCD1. Seems like a waste of money to me...

It is a nice piece of equipment, but there is also a downside:
- Searching tracks on the harddrive takes much longer than in vdj
- The harddrive is not replacable, so you cant change it, or upgrade it to a drive with higher capacity.
I would wait for the new numark gear is available, because you could attach every media you like (usb memory key, hard drive).

I think you are right.
Won't be long vefore the iCDX arrives. Also, I reckon it's only a matter of time before those highly rated CD decks from Denon, Pioneer and Technics have USB connections to plug in midi and / or hard drives.
I reckon the Numark will drop in price over the next 6 months. - Or get a larger and larger hard disc.
