Both boxes look pretty strong, I can't give you advice on VDJ but from a PC perspective those both look like onboard video, I'd recommend an AGP or PCIX video card with it's own memory for multimedia intense applications.

This is a better comparison:

But they don't show the two processors you would like to compare, sorry.

Hmm 64bit vs regular P4 no real comparison there go with the AMD i think u might have failed to mention that socket 939 is 64bit :)

The p4 he is picking is skt 775 which it makes it a prescott, the 500 series with 1's with the last digit have em64t (ie 521,531 etc...) All of the 600 series have EM64t which makes them 64bit :P If he chooses a P4 with a sky 975 chipset R3 he will beable to easily upgrade also to Conroe ;) at 2.6ghz it ourperfoms an AMD fx62 at 3.0ghz, buying a 64bit proc has no baring unless you intend to use a 64bit host operating system :P (i.e. when vista comes along). Id use a opteron if im honest or id w8 for the intel core chips (conroe). But out of them two i think the AMD just edge's it for perfomace so go with the AMD ;)

I have an Athlon 64 X2 4800. Maybe its a little over-kill and expensive still at $630US. But with VDJ it runs about 3%-6% CPU usage. So basically thats with one hand tied behind its back because its a dual core prox which means one of those cores is working at about 6%-12%. What this all means is that you can Rip or burn a CD or DVD while playing songs or videos in VDJ. Just to put it to the test I Riped a dvd while mixing several videos and the CPU usage got up to about 53%. There was no stuttering or adverse effect on the sound or video. In conclusion, I'm extremely satisfied and would have spent the money again!

AMD is the best! Many comparisons of equally-priced Intel vs. AMD chips show AMD comes out on top again and again. My system never has any problem whatsoever keeping up with:
AMD Athlon 64 x2 4400+
Asus A8N-SLI Premium
2 gigs Corsair ram

Love to see so many VDj users love AMD :) I guess we know who the winner is. Like VDj AMD packs the best bang for the buck clearly
