Sujet Video within skin-strange observation

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Hi all,

I was playing around with VDJ yestday, had videos hooked up to the tv and my DAC3 plugged in and was really happy to notice when playing a video the cpu was only at 12% usage. This jumped to about 50% i think while i was loading a video, still not too bad for a 1.82 GHz processor.

But the strange thing was on the vdj screen, if i clicked on the video tab to show the videos within the skin, the usage jumps to over 80%!!! I was using the v-mix1 skin when i first noticed it, but it also happens in the default skin.

This seems really strange, the box that displays the videos is tiny, how can it use so much of the cpu?

Has anybody else noticed this? does anybody know why this happens?

Any help would be much appriciated.

Thanks.

Try to switch "hardware acceleration" on on the Video tab in the VDJ config screen. Then your video card is doing the the processing of the video. This harware acceleration only works with a proper Ati or nvidea video card.

Hi,

thanks for the quick response. At the time, hardware acceleration was switched on. The computer was sending a dvd ripped .VOB video onto my tv (looks really nice!) and still only 12% cpu. It's only when i turn the tiny little video window in the middle of the screen on, that the proccesssor jumps up to 70 or 80%.

It's really strange, i can activate all kinds of loops, effects, etc and it doesn't go above around 15%, then i turn the little video on and it's all over the place!

If it helps, my computer specs are 1.82 P.M processor, 1024 ram and ati x300 video card (128mb dedicated memory)

Just in case anybody else has read this topic, i've just solved my own problem!

Turns out the reason was that i'd got my laptop monitor set to 16bit colour and the external motitor set to 32 bit colour. When i first set up VDJ i set it to 16 bit thinking it would save on some memory, not having to do so many colours- apparently it doesn't work like that!

changed it back to so they're both on 32bit, now the on screen video is smoooooth! and i've just downloaded the v-mix 3 skin and it even runs that fairly smoothly!

I've just started messing around with video. I noticed during mixing videos, videos would load fast and when I load a regular mp3, it would take ages. I've turned off hardware acceleration. Question 1: Is there something else I should do. When I got my laptop, I didn't have video in mind n now i'm regretting it. I have a Gateway P4HT 3.20GHZ, 1.5GB RAM. Intel Extreme Graphics Card. Should have gone for an HP, Athlon 64 but they were sold out. Anyway I'll have to make do with what I have. My # 1 problem is that my laptop doesn't have an s-video output, just VGA. Question 2: Is there like a VGA to Component converter or something of the sort? Question3: I don't know how to switch the video screen to just the second monitor. I don't think mine has the extend feature option. Thanks.

vdj has a facility to slow load songs when playing video so it doesnt stuttuer by concentrating too much on the loading it messes up the video. sometimes this slow load does not turn off when you have stopped using video. there is a registry value you can change call speed load or something. have a serach
