Sujet How many MP3's? - Page: 2

Cette partie de ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes

Remember when you didn't care how many stairs there were? I still have these over-sized grates, that held 150 12 inches, upright. Now, I have a stairs clause in my contract. Those were the days.

I doesn't matter if you don't personally listen to em. I have fire insurance and I don't expect to have a fire (what a terrible analigy).

I think we are all happy comparing our DJ *ahem* pe**s size.

I have over 60,000 Mp3's and have over 37,000 videos. I have been doing videos since before promo only started making them. Use ETV for a while but the quality was not that great in the audio department. Plus they tend to be a little slow in the releases. It is great to use virtual dj because there are times that people asked for a song but I only had it on video and could not play it at a show. Now it is now problem. I could add another 10,000 songs of heavy metal to my catolog, but just don't have a need to play it anymore.

4 years ago i had 8000+ songs
3 years ago I started spinning. and sort songs 6000+
2 years ago I started to go legal with max as i can now having around 3800 songs in PC (with only 500 that i cannot get original CDs (mostly my personal favourites))

When I buy CD i grab the whole into mp3. And occassionaly burn it to DVD.

What's left in the computer is only tracks I plan to play, or that I like. If someone has a request that i don't have in PC a mark it in the text file. And try to bring it next time (from my DVD backup, or buy new, if it's a good and "a_must_have" song.)

But 95% of requests I have. And you know. We are not jukeboxes (and also jukeboxes doesn't have all the songs). Everytime I try to offer something similar or ask "and something other?"

Each day a sort my songs at least 2 hours. Put out unwanted things, find duplicates, mark interesting cues.... and the amount of files is lower day by day.

I hate having lot of files and when i browse them i find out, "no I cannot play this now, and this also not, and this never, and no no no... AHA a good song"

My target is to stay at around 2000 songs.

I've got 400 - but all bought legally as mp3s from places like DJDownload, AudioJelly, Trax2Burn and TrackItDown.net (though 50 of are these are slightly suspect as coming from AllOfMp3.com)

You can never have enough music though ;o)

to be perfectly honest I do not know how many mp3s were bought. But since I have
purchased a lot of tracks from beatport, e music, stompy, my collection gets increased!

Years ago a friend of mine lent me his huge collection of vynil records. I spent thousands and thousands hours to listen to all and ripped those ones I liked. Some of them are disappeared actually.

Anyway opt to quality and not quantity ;))

But it is better to have plenty of goods songs than just a little of shit tracks ;O)) This is the thought of the day...

Don't you mean it's better to have a few good songs rather than lots of crap ones? But your original statement is true too!

I've got about 3,400 tracks not that many at the moment.

I agree with you, andrew87, 'cause it's necessary to have good songs and not to have only more and more tracks that maybe we don't know even!!
I repeat that, at the moment, I have only 440 tracks, but I know everyone very well...
best regards

"Good songs" is pretty subjective...

"I'd like to make a request, any good song." That's my favorite request!
