plug the nuo4 with the USB cable to your computer, then go to VDJ settings, enable midi, and add shortcuts that are launched by midi.

It's a bit tricky programming all that stuff in. For the equalizers and crossfader, the sound quality of the mix is much better if you use the Nuo4's built-in hardware crossfader/equalizer -- so in that case you wouldn't be using "MIDI mode" (you'd have the inputs plugged into LINE IN instead of MIDI), but you'd still have the knobs and buttons in the middle programmed for MIDI commands... The only drawback to this is you won't actually see the crossfader moving on the screen, and you'll have to connect another line from the mixer back into the soundcard to record properly, but the sound is much better than using VDJ's software mixing...

Hi Squeezeeye.
To prelisten to a track that is playing on a certain channel, click on the 'pfl on button' on the channel you wish to listen to. The pfl on button is situated on the column of every channel just the above the fx send knob. Make sure you have the monitor knob turned totally to pfl (left) rather than mix (right). When it is turned towards mix, you are listening to basically what the crowd is listening to.
Hope this helps... this is fairly standard on most mixers, just the buttons are named differently.

I'm not sure that you can add a midi command to the pfl buttons. If you are using the Nuo4 to mix videos the best idea is to link the crossfader on the nuo4 to the video crossfader of vdj only. I don't think its necessary to link the softwares audio crossfader to the crossfader on the nuo4, because you get better sound quality from the external mixer. You should set the crossfader on screen directly in the middle between the channels and make sure your fade mode is set to full in the settings.
