Sujet Just Gotta Say...

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Got my u46dj in this morning, been playing with it all day & I have to say I'm impressed, WOW! This thing made all the differance in the world, no more digi sounds when scratching on TCV, no more drags & sluggish TCV usage, With buffer at 1024 it's hard to tell their not regular vinyls. So take note all you users planning to use TCV with the mk2, IMO the mk2 just doesn't cut it as a soundcard, especialy if you're an agressive scratcher like myself. So now I'm using the u46dj as my soundcard with the mk2 as a control surface (ran into problems after installing djcmapper version 3 but was fixed easily by removing the mapper from the database), so a big thanks is in order to everyone here who talked me into it, cheers!!!;^]

exactly! ;)

U46dj is the recommended pro way of using TC...
Works like a champ

Hercules has to slow asio drivers for fast scratch unfortunately, but is good cheaper beginner package.

Wouldn't 1024 buffer be 22ms latency? I don't have a U46DJ so don't know how the buffer size works but am thinking of selling my Mk2 and getting one. Just need to find out if my Console Edition can be unregistered so that I can bundle it when I sell the Mk2 as I will already be taking a hit on the selling price due to some defects.

yeah.. i would set a lower buffer/latency in the U46dj pannel...
Good news is that in VDJ4 you can set that inside VDJ, easy access.. .

Regarding transfer of Console licence, its not allowed in theory.. .
But you can always ask : http://www.virtualdj.com/contact/

Heh, I did run into a small problem, even at 1024, that is the occasional silence (dropout) then it goes back into the music. I tryed it at max buffersize but it was still the same, so I'll probably lower it back down to 256 and try to fix it another way. I tryed going into bios (I'm using revision a08) to disable CPU Power State but it seems my revision doesn't have that option. I haven't tried disabling the hardware acceleration or switching power settings to "adjust for best performance" yet, but that's next after Everbody Hates Chris goes off.

Andrew, from my experiance so far today I would have to say it'd be a wise choice (though the mk2 makes a decent control surface still, even if the mappers are useless..lol), the u46dj at 2048 sounds better than the mk2 at any setting, it's a mighty fine card;^]

usb dropouts is usually not because of latency settings..

But rather usb power/dataflow...

Do you use external USB harddrive as well ? Does your USB hub (not port) share with other usb devices? Does USB share IRQs?

All these can unfortunately give occatioal usb drop-outs, but its fixable.

And yes, power management too! turn off that nasty stuff :)

@dj-in-norway

I only use an external drive when I'm transfering files between my pc's, but it is USB (either my WD 250gb or my imation 512mb usb flash drive. Other USB devices include a usb hub, optical mouse, notebook cooling pad, and of course the mk2 and u46dj. I've been trying to be usb careful though by always using "safely remove hardware" when applicable and by always plugging the mk2 and u46dj into the same ports whenever I use them directly on the notebook (running the mouse & cooling pad from the hub). I checked under device manager to see if there were any USB conflicts listed and there wasn't, so I'm hoping that's not the problem;^]

Should I disable intel speedster under power in bios?

I meant at the same time ;)

You can have as many USB devices as you want.. .

But using them at the same time when using VDJ can cause drop outs (because of interupts in data transfer).

If you use BOTH u46dj AND mk2, then try to move one of them to a different hub, if you can (a hub can have 2 or more usb ports, and some laptops have 2 hubs, with 4-6 usb ports all together).

If you cant, you might want to try a POWERED usb2 external hub.. see if it helps. It really cheap, and can aid the power consumption the MK2 needs...

Ok, I turned off hardware acceleration and that helped a little bit. I tryed running the us46dj on my external powered hub (ac) but apparently it wasn't enough power as it wouldn't transfer the signal and kept giving me "error in the asio driver". I do have a universal power adapter I can try hooking up directly to the u46dj while on the external hub, but I'll have to wait till tomorrow for that. My notebook has three USB slots all together, while running VDJ I have four USB devices connected, mouse & cooling pad on external hub and u46dj and mk2 directly on the notebook;^]

I couldn't stop playing around..lol. So I tryed running the mk2 from the external hub, and though it disabled any control panel features for the mk2, the mk2 buttons still worked and I got through about a twenty minute set without any problems. We'll see by tomorrow how well it does from here, thank you once again norway;^]

Hope things work out.. You do have quite a few usb devices runnin ;)

A POWERED usb2 hub should not make the control pannel features not work for the Hercules though..
I run Herc on powered hub all the time.. ;)

Ok, I made some drastic changes & now everything seems to be running smoothly. First thing I did was do a defrag, I had a rather large chunk of fragmented files & managed to get total fragmentation down to zero percent. I kept the mk2 on my powered external hub but moved the u46dj to a differant usb slot on the laptop (I also connected a universal AC power supply at 9 volts to the u46dj), and this time strangly it made me reboot following the "add hardware" process. Finaly, I lowered my buffer back down to 256. This seems to work a-ok;^]
