I was wondering what would be the result if i didnt ground my turntables to my laptop when using time coded vinyl with virtual dj. The grounding cables are quite short. What is the best suggestion anyone has for grounding to my laptop especially if i want to have it not sitting on the turntable console?

first of all, you'll want to ground your turntables to the mixer. not your laptop. the result of not grounding them will be degraded timecode signal and possible glitchy playback, as well as being more susceptible to RFI and other types of interference that can make it's way on to the output signal wires of the turntable. all of these will degrade your timecode quality.

if the cable isn't long enough to connect to your mixer (unlikely), it's a simple single conductor wire. extending it would be very easy to do with any wire of similar gauge.
