I come from Italy, and I can say here house is more appreciated than Italo Dance. However, DJs like Provenzano, Molinaro, Gabry Ponte, Lhasa and so on have got famous with this genre of Dance music (also known as "Hard Dance" nowadays), Italo Dance was more famous years ago (from '90s to 2002-2003), now the most broadbasted music is the House, Italo Dance is more present on the radio and some "commercial" dancefloors. However, I like it very much!

I like this genre since the 80's with artists like ken lazlo, david lyme, silver pozzoli,fun fun, etc, and now with that special touch of house music that it has now sounds incredible.

I played this music for years at 80's here in Greece, it was very popular from 1981 to 1986, but then house music was born.. (pump up the volume.. and so on)
Recently i and a friend (he still does parties with italo-dance) made a special and huge collection with very rare songs, ripping vinyls and so on..

Italo Disco is an important part of my life, that is my
teenager life. More than half of my 80's vinyl collection are
Italo Disco and German Boat Music. Each of these vinyl has a
story behind: how I desperately seeking for it and then how I
finally got it.
I learnt mixing in early 80's using vinyl like :
Savage - Don' t Cry Tonight, Only You
Gazebo - Masterpiece, Lunatic
Ken Lazslo - Hey Hey Guy, Tonight, Don't Cry
etc,
and I remember during those days when 2-turnable live effects
like "Phasin Sound" and "4 bit delay" were cool. I also used
4-tracker tape to edit Italo medleys.
More important to me are their Romantic vibes (Romantic
Disco) like:
Savage - Don' t Cry Tonight, Only You
Lian Ross - Say You'll Never
New Romantique - Shy Like An Angel
Gary Low - I Want You
Billie Jean - I Need You (very similar to Gary Low - I Want
You)
