"-does it mean u could sing over a song?"

yes... thats what they call karaoke :) lol... just kidding...

its for use a set of files, where ONE file is the LYRICS, and the OTHER file is the instrumental (no vocals)

often they are in a ZIPPED file...

like:
TOM JONES - ITS NOT UNUSUAL.ZIP

inside the zip file:
TOM JONES - ITS NOT UNUSUAL.mp3
TOM JONES - ITS NOT UNUSUAL.. (lyric file, dont remember the file ending..lol)

as of know, u cant use zipped files, but gotta unzip them into SAME folder..
When opening the mp3 file, and pressing the karaoke effect button, VDJ automatically selects the right lyric file... to be shown in vdj, and even on external monitor/tv ;)

nice - and a lotta fun... lol ;)

Those files end with .cdg. Some internet stores are offering those files on cd. Some (home) dvd players will play them just like VDJ.
What it does is the mp3 file contain the music and sometimes backing vocals. The cdg file contain the lyricks. Those lyricks are displayed in the right screen of the effects panel and are also routed to your tv output of your display adapter (If you have one of course). This output could be connected to a tv or projector.
Hope this helps
