I know that many will hate me for saying this because it will probably mean having to set up one's database all over again, but the database in VDJ is way below par in comparison to other DJ software (ie. Traktor 3).
Problems I have with the database now...
- Title, Artist, BPM, comment....what about album, genre, etc.?
- No numbering at all
- Searching is not searching, merely filtering
- No real integration with iTunes (simply importing playlists will not cut it)
- Only reads title and comment from ID3 tags
- No built-in backup/restore feature
What I've enjoyed using in Traktor and would like to see in VDJ...
- One click to get a list of songs with similar aritsts, BPM, etc.
- Read and write ALL ID3 tags, especially BPM
Feel free to list other missing features or things that need improvement. This is really the only thing that kills me about VDJ, it could be so much better if they fixed the database.
Hope to see some improvements with the Mac release!
