has anyone dabbled in whether or not a good high quality interconnect cable was better than a cheap one for connecting mixer to MK2 or any other configuration......Just wondering?

You only sound as good as your weakest cable.
If you have great cords from cd players to souncard, but crap going to the amp, or vice versa, don't expect as much.
I have Monster DJ cable for all of my connections. It was expensive, but I was able to remove radio station interferance when I used my wireless uhf mic. They have held up for me really well.

Just make sure your cables are shielded, and it should block most interferance. (they make others besides monster dj that are shielded).
