Is there any way to have a user definded background or slideshow behind the Karaoke words?

I've had pretty good luck with the sonique stuff so far. It sort of peps up the display a bit, and, more importantly, does not obscure the karaoke lyrics ;-)

Ok how do you do it?? Do you use the fade transition to make the sonique bleed through the lyrics or what??

Simply activate the Sonique plugin while the karaoke display is onscreen, and they appear together - at least in my experience. ~To enable, click the down arrow on the effect panel and tick sonique. To activate/deactivate, click on the text area in the effect panel - it will turn green. It looks really cool, too!
Check the download area for the Sonique stuff; if you did not download it, Sonique will not work - it does nothing when activated unless you have the files for the visualizations. I'm pretty sure there are instructions with the d/l.
You can either leave Sonique animations on or turn it off at any time. If you do leave it on, it will also display the visualizations while you are between karaoke tracks, but the ones that depend on sound level will not do anything exciting.
Hope this helps! :)

Ok I know how to use Sonique as I use it all the time, but how does it work as a background??? I thought it had to be used in the other player and faded in. Please shed some light on this.

Hi Discobrian,
The sonique visuals can be activated just like any other video plugin (like the text plugin, etc),
1. Enable the video output of VDJ in the video tab of the "config" menu
2. Load your karaoke track into deck 1 (move the video crossfader to the left if it's not already there)
3. Click on the effects tab
4. Click on the video effects tab
5. Find the one called sonique and click on it
6. Click the "Activate" button
but normally this would completely cover the lyrics so they can't be seen. So,
7. Adjust the "transparancy" slider until you can see the lyrics clearly.
If that doesn't work, then perhaps your sonique isn't set up quite right.
Hope that clears things up a bit :)
