I'm using my stock soundcard from from HP Pavilion a736n desktop computer. and i read all the topics and i used the timecoded topic and my cd player (pro scratch 2) will just ouptut distortion noise when using the input of my soundcard, but i tried to connect it to the mic input and it works but i can't reverse the track. Is there any way i can use the input of my PC to use my timecoded cd player to use VDJ? I connected the RCA cable to the input of the PC and i heard distortion noise from the front connection of my PC and the back coonection hears no distortion but it doesn't work at all. HELP??

Did you just plug in and found the distortion or were you playing and the distortion kicked in?

i just started to use VDJ and distortion noise will never go away in my front input line and the back input line will not work also. So i never have gotton to work to 100% timecoded quality, i always get 0% and cant auto config.

Edit the audio to -12db, could work

I edited it to -12db and it still doesnt work. I edited it on audacity by using amplify then export to mp3, the wavelength is smaller then the original file, is this what its suppose to do? then i burned it onto a cd and it still doesnt work.

Well you obviously changed it's size or duration which is probably why it doesn't work.

then how do you edit the audio to -12bd using Audacity?

Just lower the volume signal, don't edit it's duration.

I've seen this in other posts. I think people are trying to adjust the output signal to -12db rather than reduce it.
If you need to download the timecode @ -12db, i have put it on my site for you.

thanks for the link DJ GaryBrown, i tried it and the same thing still happens. I still hear the distortion noise and my signal is always 0% and when i try to auto config the wavelength is always on the bottom half. Could the be the problem? Could there be a problem with my ASIO4ALL file?

Lol looks like you dont have a positive phase then?? very strange
Posté Wed 09 May 07 @ 4:45 pm
What soud card are you using?
Posté Wed 09 May 07 @ 4:49 pm
i tried turning the input volume down and that takes care of the distortion noise but i still cant get 0% signal and the wavelength are smaller if i decrease the input volume so i cant put it too low. I tried to disable the sound on my input of my ASIO4ALL options and that does no impact it at all.

When you say wavelength, you mean amplitute right? (ie gain, or how high the waves go)

Im using the stock soundcard on my HP Pavilion a736n which is AC97 audio, i really want this to work and to see if i like it, then if i do i will probably get the Maya44 USB soundcard.
Posté Wed 09 May 07 @ 4:55 pm
I'm not saying its impossible to use that soundcard, because i really don't know, but you'd find it so much easier using a decent external soundcard where you have more control and more inputs and outputs.
I'm using an HP Pavillion & Maya44usb, and it was easy to set up. Tweaking things to get them right is trial, error and patience, as every system is different.

What is this distortion noise exactly? The timecode sound? You not supposed to be hearing that at all in the first place, only see it on screen. Have you muted the output in the windows sound control panel? (dont mute with slider though)
Let me test timecode with my AC97 and see if it works

yes i was talking about the amplitude doesnt go obove the top half only the bottom half. The distortion noise comes from the timecoded cd. how do you mute the output? do you mean the volume or wave volume? Can you please test it, thanks.

will try just now.
to mute the sound, go to control panel > sounds and audio device properties > audio > sound recording volume > drag slider to to bottom (had it the wrong way around in my post eariler)

Thanks a lot, it works perfect now, 100% signal. I didnt have the input on my PC on, just the microphone was selected, and i could only select one out of 3 inputs.
Another quick question, how does the browsing on the last two minutes work on the timecoded cd? i have it checked already but how do i select the song or browse?
